Tom Ebert, marine biologist, under-graduate BS degree at Humboltd State University in Marine Biology Science and with a Master of Arts in Biology Degree from San Jose State University with studies at Moss Landing Marine Laboratory.

The company produces about 75,000 pounds of abalone meat per year.

Our ocean front facility in Davenport provides an ideal environment for raising abalone.

This rural stretch of California coast supplies cool, clean seawater for our land-based operation.

American Abalone takes great pride in raising the highest quality naturally grown abalone.

 

 

We spawn mature abalone and raise young abalone through the larval, nursery and juvenile stages to over three years old.

Our market-size abalone, depending upon customer preference, range from three to four inches in shell length, and three to five per pound in weight. All abalone are individually weighed and sorted into size categories by weight, not by shell length.

In addition to supplying live abalone to seafood wholesalers and restaurants, we now offer the opportunity to order our abalone direct from the farm.

Pictured above are the 3 sizes of abalone available for retail sales. Periodically, there are larger abalone available.

• Small abalone: ~ 5.5 abalone per pound

• Medium abalone: ~ 3 abalone per pound

• Large abalone: ~ 2 abalone per pound
